Patient suffers permanent injuries due to medical malpractice

When Oregon citizens go in for a medical procedure, not only do they place their trust in the hands of doctors and nurses, but also their lives. However, even in this day and time, medical malpractice is one of the main causes of death and injury in the United States. Luckily, when a medical mistake causes injury to a patient, that patient has legal avenues that he or she can take to ease the pain and suffering. A man from another state has taken legal action over alleged mistakes during surgery that have left him scarred for life.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff went in for a surgical procedure to repair a hernia. While in surgery, the plaintiff alleges that the surgeon caused injuries to a major blood vessel. The patient began bleeding into his abdomen. The efforts to repair this blockage allegedly stopped the blood supply to the plaintiff's right leg and foot, which left him with numbness and very limited use of them.

The plaintiff claims that the alleged mistakes have left him psychologically and physically scarred. He claims he lost wages as his injuries caused him to miss work. The plaintiff is suing the surgeon and the medical facility for an unspecified amount in damages.

Tragically, when mistakes are made during a medical procedure, the patient has to live with the consequences. Despite years of training and experience, doctors of all practices make errors. Fortunately, there are ways to ease the pain and suffering of medical malpractice victims and their families. Any Oregon citizen that suffers injuries due to mistakes or carelessness during medical procedures may benefit from seeking the services of an personal injury attorney experienced in handling these types of claims.
